Problem
Will an oreo be affected if it is droped in a bag filled with air compared with if it is drooped in a bag without air in it?
Hypothesis
If an Oreo is dropped in a bag filled with air, then I don’t think it will break.
Materials
1.2 plastic bags 1. Straw 2.Meter stick 3. Air 4. Oreos 5. Pencil 6. Paper
7. 2 bags
Procedure
1 Record. Gather your materials 2. Put an Oreo in a bag filled with air (fill bag with air by blowing with your mouth) and close the bag quickly. 3. Drop the bag with the Oreo in it at one meter. 4. Record if the Oreo broke or not. 5. Take the other bag, and put the Oreo in it. 6. Take a straw and suck air out of a bag by putting the straw part way into the bag and close the bag around straw. 7. Press on the straw were it exits the bag and slowly pull out straw with hand still pressing in the spot were place you used to be pressing on used to be. 8.Once straw is out of bag, close the bag quickly (if it isn’t already closed). 9. Drop the bag at one meter. 10.Record if the oreo broke or not. .
Data Collection
I learned that my hypothesis is wrong because I thought that the Oreo will not break if it is dropped at one meter in a bag filled with air. That was wrong. What happened was the Oreo broke most when it was dropped in a bag filled with air. Also the Oreo broke every time I dropped in a bag not filled with air. So I figured out that Oreo will probably break in a bag filled with or without air.
